Christian Volunteer Challenges #4

Some ministries are slowly moving towards normal, while others have had to go virtual again or stay virtual to keep everyone safe. When is the last time you took some Sabbath type rest during the past year of constant change and stress? You can’t help anyone if you are beyond exhausted in every way. Take the tie you need to recharge and reconnect with God. Here are this week’s social media challenges to give you some ideas to ponder.

Monday: Lemons are sour. Some Christians act as if the words of God are sour, because those words aren’t always what they want to hear. Helping your Bible students understand that all of God’s words should be as sweet as honey to them may also encourage them to have softer hearts and to be more godly.

Tuesday: Did you catch our blog post last week on designing Bible studies teens will beg to attend? There are a lot of great tips, but here’s one more. A food truck area is a great draw for teens. There’s usually a lot of unique food and often quiet places with tables and chairs nearby for studying while you eat.

Wednesday: Your Bible students may have developed a habit of surrounding themselves with things that are sad, depressing, hopeless, violent, etc. Constantly exposing themselves to negative media can adjust their natural changing emotional states and leave them stuck in a negative state. Challenge your Bible students to live out Philippians 4:8 and keep track of what happens before and after. If they stay stuck after a prolonged period of cleansing, they may need professional help rebalancing their brain chemistry or dealing with more serious issues.

Thursday: A lot of young girls in this country learn about sod houses, not in school or from living in one. They learn about them from reading the books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Your Bible students should be learning about life and the best way to live it from reading the Bible. It’s a difficult book to tackle for some young readers. Our blog has multiple posts on how to make studying the Bible easier for early or struggling readers and how to encourage all of your Bible students to read it daily. Just click on the blog tab on our website and use the search function to find helpful posts. www.teachonereachone.org

Friday: Did you read this blog post? The second part posted Saturday, January 30. Are we unintentionally winnowing out young people by the way we teach them about God? (First of a two part series.) http://teachonereachone.org/are-bible-classes-winnowing…/
