Beautiful Faithfulness

Scripture: Exodus 13-16

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will learn God will provide what we need.
  • Students will learn God does not always give us what we want.
  • Students will learn God wants us to appreciate the gifts He has given us.
  • Students will create art to remind them of God’s faithfulness.

Guiding Question:  How can students be reminded of God’s promises and faithfulness?

Materials: Paper, drawing materials

Procedure: Review the story of the Israelites escaping Egypt focusing on how God provided for their needs. Explain that to live you need food/water, shelter/safety and love. God provided for the Israelites and he provides for us too. God will always provide for our needs but we still have to do our part to take care of ourselves and have a plan for how to provide for ourselves in difficult times. God wants us to be smart and plan ahead so that we can help others and ourselves.

Introduce the activity. Review the scripture Matthew 19:26. Have the students create illustrations of “impossible” things God has done in the Bible and in their own lives. Have students share with the class when they are done. Encourage students to hang the art somewhere in their room or house to remind them of God’s faithfulness.

Additional Questions: How can students create goals for their lives that include God?

Supplemental Activity: Have students make an action plan for the goals they want to meet in their life. The goals can be spiritual, academic, personal, etc. Have the students include in the plan how they can turn to God for help.
