Scripture: 2 Kings 4:8-6:7

Guiding Question: How can students use real life examples to learn length, width, and depth?
Materials: Various sized containers
Procedure: Review the story of Naaman from the scriptures above. Tell the students that after Naaman washed, his skin was clear of leprosy. Explain that sometimes God may ask us to do things that don’t make sense to us, but He still asks us to obey him. God knows things we cannot know or understand which is why the Bible says some things about God are mysteries. We don’t always have to understand God to obey God but we need to believe God knows what is best for us and obey Him.
Introduce the activity. Tell students that Naaman washed in a river, but what if there had been a swimming pool? Bring in containers of various sizes to represent pools. Teach students how to measure length, width and depth of various sized containers in preparation for finding volume later in math.
Additional Questions: How can students apply knowledge of length, width, and depth?
Supplemental Activity: Have students draw out homes and backyards of different sizes. The students will need to draw out a pool in the backyard of a certain length, width, and depth that is appropriate for that size backyard.
