  • Students will learn God expects us to be godly in the ways we treat other people – even in business dealings.
  • Students will learn there may be earthly consequences for disobeying God.
  • Students will make brochures for those in assisted living and nursing homes to warn them of ways business may try to scam them.

Guiding Question: How does looking out for others share with them how God cares for them?

Materials: White printer paper, pencils, crayons, colored pencils

Procedure: Review the story of Naboth’s Vineyard from the scriptures above. Remind the students that Ahab cheated Naboth out of his vineyard and that Ahab treated Naboth in an ungodly way. Explain that many people today try to treat people in order to get material items from there or money from them. Sometimes they can be so sneaky that people do not even notice they are being tricked. This is not how God wants people to treat others and can lead to negative earthly consequences.

Introduce the service project. Explain that people will often try to scam elderly people and take advantage of them. Elderly people are not always aware what they might be signing up for or if they are being scammed. Have the students research different ways that the elderly are scammed. Have the students create a brochure to warn them about the scams. Tell the students that by warning the elderly about these scams, they know that they are cared for and it provides an opportunity to share how God cares for them. Have the students go with you to distribute the flyers at a local assisted living or nursing home.
