Guiding Question: How does caring for others show God’s love?

Materials: Small containers, bandaids, gauze, first aid ointment, antibacterial wipes

Procedure: Review the story of Peter’s mother-in-law and Galilee from the scriptures above. Explain how Jesus shows His love for us as He cares for us when we are sick or suffering. Ask the students why it is important for them to do the same for others. Ask how they can help others quickly or with a minor injury. Explain that first aid kits are useful in providing a quick fix or start of some assistance for those who are injured or sick.

Introduce the activity. Have students share what they think is inside First Aid kits. Explain why First Aid kits are useful and what kind of symptoms/illnesses they are used for. Explain the importance of having on small First Aid kit with you when you go places. Tell the students they are going to create their own Mini First Aid kits to have with them. Have students create the First Aid kits with small containers, bandaids, gauze, first aid ointment, and antibacterial wipes.

Additional Questions: How can students apply knowledge of first aid?

Supplemental Activity: Have students use first aid products to practice cleaning and caring for cuts and other minor injuries.
