Scripture: I Kings 4,7,9,11 and 2 Chronicles 8
Learning Objectives:
- Students will learn God blessed Solomon in many ways, just like He blesses us in many ways.
- Students will learn God gave Solomon amazing wisdom and riches which Solomon could have used to serve God. God also gives us different gifts to use in His service.
- Students will learn Solomon eventually became distracted by the things his wealth, power and fame gave him. We too, can become distracted by things in the world and begin making poor choices.
- Students will learn how to round numbers.
Guiding Question: How can students learn to round large numbers?
Materials: Bibles, paper, pencils
Procedure: Review the story of Solomon’s Kingdom from the scripture above. Explain that God blessed Soloman with wisdom and ways that he could serve God. God also gives us special talents and paths in life to serve Him. Explain that just as Soloman became distracted, we can become distracted by things around us such as money and fame. Even material items can become idols and distractions. Talk to the students about making better choices when we get distracted by the world.
Introduce the activity. Remind students that Solomon owned large numbers of many things. When someone has large numbers of something, they may round off the number to make it easier for everyone. Teach students how to round the large numbers in the Bible story. Give the students other large numbers to round. Place them in pairs and have them give each other large numbers to practice rounding.

Supplementary Activity: Have students create a game board that asks questions specifically about rounding big numbers.
