Scripture: Matthew 18:1-4, Mark 9:33-35, Luke 9:46-48 and 17:7-10

- Students will learn it is our responsibility to obey and serve God.
- Students will learn even if we serve God faithfully, we should be humble and grateful for our blessings – especially salvation.
- Students will learn the words that describe different emotions.
Guiding Question: Why is God not concerned with being powerful?
Materials: No materials needed
Procedure: Review the story of the Apostles Argue from the scriptures above. Emphasize the God is not concerned about being powerful. He is concerned about us trying to do the right and best thing for His Kingdom. Tell students that people who have power do not always care to do the right thing but God asks us to obey and serve Him first. Remind the students that serving God is about putting Him and others above ourselves. When we serve, we should be humble and always focused on God. When serving, we should have an attitude and emotions that express happiness, kindness, and love.
Introduce the activity. Explain that there are different emotions we experience such as anger, sadness, disappointment, happiness, etc. Have the students pair up. Have one student in the pair make a face expressing an emotion and the other has to give the correct word. Have the students go through several, switching roles each time. At the end, have some students share what the hardest words were to guess and why.
Additional Questions: How can students practice new emotion words?
Supplemental Activity: Have students pick an emotion word that is new to them and create a drawing of a situation where someone feels that emotion or of a person’s face that expresses that emotion.
