Guiding Question: How can we spend eternity in Heaven with God?

Materials: Paper, pencil, technology for researching

Procedure: Review the Parable of Weeks. Remind students that Jesus used parables to teach others lessons for living a Christian lifestyle and godly principles. Have students share what they believe is the one biggest lesson for the story that Jesus was trying to teach. Expands on students’ thinking and explain how the Parable teaches that those who follow God will be able to spend eternity in Heaven. Following God begins with asking for forgiveness of sins and through baptism. It is important to always repent of our sins and try our best to follow the godly principles that have been laid out for us in the Bible. As we form a personal relationship with God, it will help us to know what we need to do for His Kingdom and how we can grow/mature even more.

Introduce the activity. Have the students research common weeds (or weeds everywhere) in the area they live in. Have students also research why are some plants are considered weeds in one area but the same weeds can be used for something like food in another area.

Additional Questions: How can weeds be used for good?

Supplemental Activity: Have students research appropriate uses for weeds and create a plan for how to use weeds appropriately in their area or even around their church building.
