Faith Sharing 101

Scripture: Acts 2

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will review the story of Pentecost.
  • Students will learn the Apostles bravely shared their faith with anyone who would listen.
  • Students will learn the basics of sharing their faith.
  • Students will participate in a project to remind them how to share their faith.

Guiding Question: How can we share our faith with others?

Materials: plain t-shirts (found at Michaels or Joanns with coupons is cheaper than anything else), fabric paints and markers (I will loan you what you need), stamps (I will loan you what you need), baptism study parents can use to teach their kids and others in Spanish (This is almost finished and should be ready by then)

Procedure: Review the story of Pentecost. Remind the students the disciples went from running in fear when Jesus was arrested to bravely sharing their faith with anyone who would listen. Tell them we are often scared to share our faith because it seems so hard. Teach them the following basic ideas they need to share with others: God made the world perfect. Man sinned and broke God’s heart. God sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead. If we repent and are baptized, we can go to heaven when we die. Give the students the materials to make a t-shirt. Encourage them to make neat stamps in the correct order and add the words with fabric markers. (The students may need adult help with putting paint on stamps.) Have the students practice sharing their faith using their t-shirts as a guide for what to say.

Additional Questions:

  • What has God done for you?

Supplemental Activity: Have the students interview each other and adult Christians they know about how God has changed their lives. Encourage the students to gather responses into a video or book that could be shared with others.
