- Students will learn we should also go to great lengths to convince people to become Christians.
- Students will learn how to write lost and found advertisements.
Guiding Question: What can stand in the way of teaching others about Jesus?
Materials: Lost and found advertisements, pencils, papers, drawing utensils
Procedure: Review the Parable of Loss. Ask the students if they have ever had to go find something or someone that was lost. Was it difficult? Have students elaborate on why it may have been difficult. Explain that as Christians, there can be difficulties that stand in our way when trying to teach people about Jesus and convince them to be Christians. Sometimes Satan can put things in our way from reaching those people or people may be hesitant due to sin in their life, bad memories, or other prior experiences. Even if it is difficult, we should go to great lengths and do our very best to get to know the person, form a relationship with them, and teach them about Jesus.
Introduce the activity. Have students examine lost and found ads. Ask the students: What are the common elements? What info would you need to give in your ad to be successful? Once students come up with their answers, have the students create lost ads for the people in the parables.
Additional Questions: How can students create ads to share Jesus?
Supplemental Activity: Have students create an advertisement about Jesus. They can include scripture, drawings, and examples of what Jesus has done for them.
