Guiding Question: How can students learn what vocabulary is used when visiting stores in the beauty industry?
Materials: Volunteer of someone who works in the beauty industry and their supplies
Procedure: Review the story of Samson and Delilah focusing on the rules Samson had to follow. Discuss how Samson became weaker because his hair was cut and he had a covenant with God. Talk with students about
Take students to a beauty salon or barber shop or have someone who works in one visit your class, bringing the tools of the trade with them. Have them teach the students vocabulary associated with their work and how to ask for the services or products they need. Have students take turns pretending to be the owner or the customer and practice what they have learned.
Additional Questions: How can students apply vocabulary associated with beauty salons or barber shops?
Supplemental Activity: Have the students create a beauty salon or barbershop on paper, labeling the store with vocabulary learned, services, etc.
