Guiding Question: How can students learn to read thermometers?

Materials: Various thermometers

Procedure: Share the story of the First Passover from the scriptures above. Explain how those celebrating the passover had to obey God’s commands for the passover and that protected them. Tell the students that God expects and wants us to obey Him so we can show Him we love and honor Him while also protecting ourselves from earthly consequences. Bad earthly consequences can happen we disobey God that can also affect people close to us.

Introduce the activity. Explain that during the Passover meal, lamb had to be cooked to the right temperature. When we cook, we need to know how to read a thermometer to ensure the food is safe to eat. Bring in different thermometers and have the students practice reading. Students can also research what temperature are needed for food to be cooked through and safe to eat.
