As a Christian parent, wouldn’t it be great if you could work towards multiple parenting goals with one resource or activity? What if there were a magazine that not only helps your child practice important non-fiction reading skills, but also teaches science material and strengthens your kids’ faith at the same time?

One of the biggest myths espoused by skeptics is that scientific data can only be interpreted one way – the secular, anti-God way. They push the idea that if any scientist believes in God or takes the Bible literally in places that it says are historical, then that person’s interpretation of scientific data is automatically faulty. Actually, secular scientists have such a strong anti God bias, I would argue their interpretation of data is often much more suspect.
If your children attend public school, they will most likely be exposed to science textbooks that are out of date and have data that has been proven to be false, tainted or misinterpreted – even in the eyes of secular scientists. Did you know for example, that the increased ability technology provides to see the complexity in the things God created has caused many secular scientists to reject classic Darwinism as being unrealistic and unprovable? Yet your children’s textbooks will very likely teach classic Darwinism as a “proven” truth that no one can question.
Answers in Genesis is a crucial resource if your children are enrolled in public schools. It publishes information by renowned scientists who are also Christian. They show how the same data can be interpreted in a different way that actually has more logical integrity and does not undermine the Bible. In fact, one of the most important points they have is that if you allow your children to undermine the historical accounts in Genesis of Creation and the Flood by trying to combine it with classic Darwinism and other secular beliefs, then you set the stage for your children to decide to change any part of the Bible they don’t like or agree with. It allows them to think they are smarter than God and that is always a dangerous attitude to have.
Answers in Genesis has lots of great resources for children and teens. You might want to start with their Answers for Kids magazine which you can also get in a combined subscription with their adult magazine. I get nothing for promoting their materials, but have personally used their free online resources to help kids and teens reconcile the Bible, science they are taught at school and science that uses the same data with a Christian worldview rather than a secular one. You can find their resources at the Answers website.
