Scripture: Matthew 8:14-15, Mark 1:29-39 and Luke 4:38-44

- Students will learn Jesus thought it was important to tell as many people as possible about his message.

Guiding Question: How does caring for others show God’s love?
Materials: Internet access, paper, pencils
Procedure: Review the story of Peter’s mother-in-law and Galilee from the scriptures above. Explain how Jesus shows His love for us as He cares for us when we are sick or suffering. Ask the students why it is important for them to do the same for others. Tell students that it is also important for us to know how to take care of ourselves when we are sick. We need to know how to treat symptoms of illness to keep our body well and recover quickly from illness.
Introduce the activity. Ask the students if any of them know why our body gets a fever when we are sick? Have students research the science behind fevers, finding the answers to the following questions: How do we get them, what happens when we get high fevers, what is their purpose, and how do we treat them.
