Scripture: Judges 4-5
Learning Objectives:
- Students will learn when people disobey God, there may be earthly consequences.
- Students will learn God often used women in His plans, even though women were not thought of very highly in many societies at the time.
- Students will learn God expects us to be brave when He asks us to do something. If we don’t trust and obey Him, God may allow someone else to have the godly adventure He had wanted to give us.
Interesting Facts:
- The name Jabin is mentioned in records outside of the Bible during Old Testament times as the king of Hazor. Because the name is mentioned by multiple countries over many years, it is assumed it was more of a title, like Pharaoh, than a proper name.
- It was against common customs of the time for Jael to kill Sisera as her family was allied with him and he was a guest in their home.
